IMSTAR has launched OSA, a new microarray analyzer based on innovative instrumentation concept: high image resolution, rapid scanning, and analysis of multi-fluorescence images and registration of on-chip real-time processes. Integrated in the Pathfinder products line, this instrument may be used for the analysis of a wide range of biochips or miniaturized cell-arrays. It is composed of a microscope-like optical part combined with a high resolution CCD detector. Optional features include unique, uniform and accurate temperature control of the microarray and provide maximum versatility for temperature-dependant real-time experiments (hybridization kinetics, equilibrium melting and non-equilibrium washing curves, enzymatic and chemical reactions)
Important features of image capture and analysis include:
* Scanning of various types of slides (all commercially available slides).
* Simultaneous capture of up to 6 fluorophores including wide choice of commonly used fluorophores (Alexas, Cy3, FITC, …).
* Scanning of dry slides and slides within hybridization chamber.
* Single or multi-zone acquisition.
* Permanent Focus drive for each spot position.
* Optimal Image Capture including correction for field non-homogeneity.
Dedicated analysis software allows automated detection and quantitation of large number of spots with the following features:
* Image transformation procedures: rotation, flipping, colour inversion.
* Analysis and spots accurate detection within single- or multi- sub-arrays.
* Grid positioning using previous spot positions list (from pattern or detected).
* Automated Spot finder providing spot location, size and Quality characteristics.
* High quality mage processing applying ‘powerful filtering’ for spot detection in difficult conditions; automated background correction and evaluation.
* Data representation in list mode with various parameters for signal intensity measurements and export to statistical analysis/interpretation software.
